Buick RegalThis still is part of a large set of renders for Buick's interactive build-your-own configurator. I was responsible for the lighting, shading, and texturing. Composited by Cyrus Kalcevic. The configurator is currently live at http://buick.com.
CAT CT660This still is part of a series of three cg trucks integrated into 360 degree turnaround backplate. I was responsible for the lighting, shading, and texturing. Composited by Cyrus Kalcevic. The end result is currently live at http://mycattruck.com.
Camaro SuspensionI was responsible for the lighting, shading, and texturing. This image is currently live at http://chevrolet.com.
LoftI'd love to live here. This scene was lit using Maya's physical sun and sky in combination with portal lights. It was a blast experimenting with fur on the carpet. Besides texturing and lighting, I also modeled the elements in the foreground.
BedroomI lit and textured this image for CGTalk's lighting challenge; the model was provided by David Vacek. My goal was to figure out volume shaders in mental ray for this project. After some research, I used the parti_volume shader to achieve the light rays. Definitely a great learning experience.
I textured and lit this scene as well as modeled everything except the dumpster. I really enjoyed experimenting with specular and bump maps to create a puddle on the asphalt. Alley
The three vases in this scene each have their own color, bump, specular, eccentricity, and reflectivity maps. The many different maps allowed me to achieve a variety of surface qualities on a single object. This scene is also rendered without global illumination or final gather. Vases

HaroldThis character, "Harold," is the realization of a doodle in the margin of my Physics notebook. It was also a great excuse to test out subsurface scattering in Mental Ray.
I created this piece in Adobe Illustrator, relying heavily on the gradient mesh tool.Gradient Mesh Mustang
I started with a creative commons photo of a homeless man I found on Flickr to create this image. I really liked the contrast between the mans hardened, weathered face, and his smooth flowing beard. I captured this by reducing the face to triangles while using a limited color palette. Gradient Mesh Portrait

Resume (.pdf)
Reel Breakdown (.pdf)

First and foremost, I'm a creative problem solver. I live to solve visual problems, and love to learn. Working in 3D provides technical and artistic challenges, both of which I thrive on. Whether I'm up to my elbows in the hypershade or adding the final polish in After Effects, I have the skills and the eye to get the job done.

When I'm away from the computer screen I try to get outside as much as possible. I love to mountain bike, snowboard, and hike.

I'm currently based in Portland, OR and am always interested in freelance opportunities.

When I'm not near a computer I'm always near a phone. I'd love to hear from you.
