BedroomI lit and textured this image for CGTalk's lighting challenge; the model was provided by David Vacek. My goal was to figure out volume shaders in mental ray for this project. After some research, I used the parti_volume shader to achieve the light rays. Definitely a great learning experience.
LoftI'd love to live here. This scene was lit using Maya's physical sun and sky in combination with portal lights. It was a blast experimenting with fur on the carpet. Besides texturing and lighting, I also modeled the elements in the foreground.
I textured, and lit this scene as well as modeled everything except the dumpster. I really enjoyed experimenting with specular and bump maps to create a puddle on the asphalt. Alley
The three vases in this scene each have their own color, bump, specular, eccentricity, and reflectivity maps. The many different maps allowed me to achieve a variety of surface qualities on a single object. This scene is also rendered without global illumination or final gather. Vases

I created this piece in Adobe Illustrator, relying heavily on the gradient mesh tool.Gradient Mesh Mustang
I started with a creative commons photo of a homeless man I found on Flickr to create this image. I really liked the contrast between the mans hardened, weathered face, and his smooth flowing beard. I captured this by reducing the face to triangles while using a limited color palette. Gradient Mesh Portrait

Reel Breakdown(.pdf)

First and foremost, I'm a creative problem solver. I live to solve visual problems, and love to learn. I have a strong foundation in art and design, as well as the software knowledge to put it to use. Pushing limits, breaking boundaries, and making things look good are my hobbies.

When I'm away from the computer screen I try to get outside as much as possible. I love to mountain bike, snowboard, and hike.

I'm usually near a computer, so shoot me an e-mail:
